Teeth whitening

We constantly keep getting asked, what is best way to get your teeth whitening. Is it doing it at home or at the practice using our LED light power bleaching technology?

The truth is, it does not matter and both methods given time will achieve the same result. But let me elaborate further. NOT all teeth reach the same whiteness. Rather, each tooth has its maximum whiteness beyond which it will not whiten any further regardless of the technique and material.
Furthermore, teeth among different patient don’t bleach the same rate; some will be bleach faster than other. I have seen my sister’s teeth go noticeably whiter in 3 days using our take home kits!! Unfortunately we can’t expect the same result for everyone.

So what is it then, Shall I get it done at the practice or at home?
Well, this is not the full story yet. The power bleaching that technique is usually done at the beginning of the whitening treatment or at the end. It is an adjunct to the take home kits, mainly used for patients that have very discoloured teeth. In some cases patient may choose the in surgery whitening only due to time constraints but the result will vary from one person to another due to the reasons mentioned above.

So basically the answer to the question is, it depends on the teeth and what is the patient wanting to achieve and how white you want your teeth to get. Best though is to speak to your dentist.

Sensitivity

The most commonly encountered problem with teeth whitening is teeth sensitivity, the mechanism by which beaching causes sensitivity is not fully understood, however what we know is, If present, normally persists for up to four days after stopping bleaching and can be reduced by reducing the amount of time spent bleaching per day, bleaching every other day or by using desensitising agents , such as the tooth paste we provide with all our bleaching kits, into the bleaching tray between periods of bleaching.
The sensitivity will vary from one person to another some people will get none at all, and some people will only manage to bleach their teeth every other day due to the sensitivity. But at the end of it the sensitivity will stop a few days after the treatment has stopped.

Cosmetic Dental Treatment

Do you believe that the perfect smile, as a result of cosmetic dental treatment, is only for the rich and famous?

Only footballers, their wives, and those driving gas guzzling cars can afford to invest in their teeth?

The simple answer to both these questions is ‘NO'. These treatments are very affordable and you too can be one of the ‘beautiful people'. It is ignorance to this fact that keeps cosmetic dental treatment as exclusive as the snow in the alps; and this is what THEY want you to believe.
At City Quay Dental Clinic, Dundee, Scotland, cosmetic veneers are very popular with people from all walks of life. Starting at 275£ per tooth, you too could have a brand new smile for around 2000£. This may seem expensive; until one considers that the average smoker spends far more on cigarettes in a year.

We sell quality assured teeth whitening kits, which can be self administered, for as little as 250£. Professional, same day, whitening, provided by a fully qualified dentist will cost 400£. This, again, is far cheaper than the bill most aspiring, amateur red wine connoisseurs will run up in 6 months, following a hard day at work.

The surgery is open Monday to Saturday and also offer dental implants and facial anti-wrinkle injections. All treatments are provided by highly qualified dentists so not only can you book a time that fit in with your busy schedule, but you can feel confident that you are receiving a safe and professional service. Cosmetic dental treatment needn't be expensive, risky, or inconvenient.

Feedback from our patients suggests that not only are they happy with their healthy mouths and bright smile, but more significantly they feel a renewed sense of confidence.
All of our work is assured and we excel as a result of our word of mouth reputation. We treat NHS and private patient on a daily basis and customer care is at the centre of our methodology. We have purpose built state of the art facilities. All of our dentists are British graduates and fully registered with the general dental council.
